Anything that is thick soled seems to be so nice and right now. Paul Smith's endeavour of combining classic wingtip brogues and thick rubber soles together is not bad afterall. If you think wingtip brogues may look old, these thick soled ones will change your mind.

my ss12 tees

I seldom post entries about apparels or accessories but today I am sharing some of my favorite SS12 t-shirts. Yes I love tee shirts and I love those designs with strong, bold and impressive prints or motifs. Spring Summer is a good time to acquire tees because usually the colors are more vibrant. Stripes this season are particularly popular and you could see many designers coming out with such pattern. Flowers, animals, cartoons are great components for tee shirt design.


These five represent what I have had for this season. Pardon the color tones as the images were taken using iPhone camera in my room. But you could see the actual ones in the rest of the images, and most of the tees are available in stores already. Happy shopping. Forget about the black and grey for a while. Now is the exuberant Spring Summer!

Meet my new love, Paul Smith Jeans Musa with jungle print. The print is actually on a satin-like material with smooth texture and slightly shiny surface, absolutely better than the usual canvas. The jungle drawing is not in symmetry. It spreads across the whole body of the shoes. Both sides are uniquely different.

It is not easy to find great looking colored brogues. I think these single color brogues from Dsquared2(top) and Paul Smith are extremely stunning. USD655 and GBP235 respectively.

Chunky soles are everywhere now this season. This so-called "Grand" brogue from Paul Smith mainline is interesting with its gold-silver textured suede uppers, adding the 'grandness'. I would say if the chocolate, union-jack patterned sole is made of leather or wood instead of rubber the overall appeal would be further enhanced, because the rubbery sole in fact appears a little unserious and toy-like. Brogues are usually not my kinda thing, but this pair of bi-color brogues endears me to a certain extent. Usually brogues will people the 'old' impression, but with some color tweaks the overall look becomes 'modern'. Retailing at  GBP330 at Paul Smith online.

While the e-store at paulsmith website is having great sales now, some items from the SS11 shoes collection have already made their debut appearance.

First impression is important and I am straight away attracted to this "Solar" trainers, built of 100% leather and rubber sole. The off-white body made of slightly distressed leather makes it seemingly more resistant to dirt. The chunky bright red sole is glued to the upper part and I extremely like the contrast effect. There are 7 eyelets fitted with typical striped Paul Smith colorway shoelaces. I hope Club21 bring them in! Priced at GBP155 at Paul Smith e-store presently.

reconstruction or destruction?

Sometimes I dare not step into any Zara stores because of these "amazing" discoveries! I do not mind if chukka boots or desert boots or mountain boots look similar as they afterall embrace an intrinsic "functionality". I am pretty astounded by the "inspiration". I like the positive saying of "Inspired by..." blah blah, but you know what I mean in actuality. Well, this is not something new. I believe many fashion bloggers have blogged a lot of such "Zara Inspirations" in apparel designs as well.

Nonetheless, I still step into Zara, for stuffs other than shoes.
