Chunky soles are everywhere now this season. This so-called "Grand" brogue from Paul Smith mainline is interesting with its gold-silver textured suede uppers, adding the 'grandness'. I would say if the chocolate, union-jack patterned sole is made of leather or wood instead of rubber the overall appeal would be further enhanced, because the rubbery sole in fact appears a little unserious and toy-like.
